New premium look for Freelander

Perhaps in response to the huge success of the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover is giving its sibling, the Land Rover Freelander a makeover which will be shown for the first time at the Moscow International Motor Show on August 29. The aim of the upgrade is to give the Freelander greater upmarket appeal and Land Rover say it is designed to deliver better comfort, more convenience and greater driving enjoyment.

From the just-released pictures the new up-market look is most obvious in the interior. New features include a new centre console, seven-inch touch screen and other cosmetic and colour changes. There is a new rear-view parking camera and voice activation system.

Externally, the Freelander now features LED lights front and rear with daytime running lights at the front.

Under the skin there is a new ‘intelligent’ parking brake that adjusts the brake force according to the slope you have parked on – a useful feature for a car that can tackle steep grades.
